Boarding is fun at Glebe!

Boys Boarding HouseGlebe House offers weekly boarding, for both girls and boys, from the age of seven years in separate boarding houses. Boarding is very popular with the children who tend to want to board at some stage of their time with us. We feel that boarding helps our pupils to become more independent as well as learning consideration for others. We offer the options of full weekly boarding (i.e. four nights Monday to Thursday), part time boarding (i.e.: one, two or three nights a week) on a regular basis, and flexi boarding which is done on an ad hoc basis. As the school is only a short walk from miles of award winning golden sands, on sunny summer evenings we will take the boarders down to the beach to paddle and play beach games.

The Headmaster's wife, Bridget Crofts, oversees the care and welfare of the girl boarders, who occupy the top floor of the Main Building, as do our two female Gap Students. The boys are in the care of a residential Housemaster, Charlie Thompson, who lives alongside the Boys' Boarding House in adjoining accommodation. There is a private payphone in each Boarding House to allow parent/children contact.

Girls Boarding House

The boy’s boarding house is adjacent to our Junior School and has four dormitories, a bright and spacious Common Room with a small kitchenette off it, and all of the usual toilets etc. The boarders can prepare themselves snacks during the evenings (toasted sandwiches are very popular) or can bring in their own 'tuck'. The Common Room has TV, Video, DVD, Play Station and stereo but evening activities are organised by the houseparents for those who wish to participate.

The girl’s boarding house has a large, homely Common Room with TV. Video etc. and two dormitories. The girls tend to play their music in their dorms, and prefer toast and fruit as their snacks. Again during the evenings there are organised activities for the girls, such as playing board games, two favourites are the newly discovered 'Snatch' and 'Continuo'.
