On a cloudy, Autumn day, Glebe House played St Hugh’s at
home. I won the toss and chose to kick
off. At around 30 seconds into the game
they scored their first try of many. I
don’t really want to go into detail of the tries they scored in the first half,
but I do want to mention that Jack G, Andrew and Felix were putting in 100%
effort.
In the second half we borrowed 3 of their players and they
encouraged us on and made us tackle with more confidence. After about 5 minutes
into the second half one of the St Hugh’s players scored for us but John P
unfortunately missed the conversion.
This encouraged us on, but St Hugh’s scored a quick try and got the
conversion. They then scored again.
We had a very good kick from John P and we scored a try, but
then missed the conversion . With
seconds to go John Futter made a fantastic run, and we had a ruck a centimetre
from the try line. I then picked up the
ball and dived over the ruck to score.
Then John P got the conversion.
The whole team played really well, especially Felix who was
talking like a demon! And Sam because it
was his first rugby match.
The end score was 80-17 to them, but we actually won the
second half 17-12.
I think we need to work more on our defence.
