Under 9s Boys Hockey - Versus Taverham Away |
|
Glebe U9's travelled to Taverham for our third hockey match of the season. We were playing our first match on grass with a hard ball. It was an uneven pitch and we had to go uphill for the first half. There was no toss and Glebe started but Taverham quickly tackeld us and dribbled to the D. They started passing the ball between their players but one missed, and the ball went off.
We got the ball to the half way line but Michael got tackled. They passed down the wing and dribbled up to our keeper, Bertie. They took a tremendous shot and scored - unlucky for Glebe. Toby passed to Lewis who dribbled up to their D, but got tackled and Taverham got the ball. They passed upfield but Morgan cleared it. The whistle blew for half time and we knew we had to mark them more closely and pass better if we were going to have any chance of winning.
In the second half we were going downhill which was much easier for us. Toby quickly got it to their D - there was a big scrabble for the ball and Toby managed to score a good goal. They started off well and got near to our goal, but got tackled by Morgan and Lewis. Lewis passed to Toby who dribbled up and shot - another tremendous goal which put us in the lead. A little while later Michael had a shot for goal but their goal keeper saved it. Michael took the short corner, but they managed to get the ball down to our goal, past our defenders and took a shot at goal which, unfortuantely for us, could not be stopped. Alex then went off and Josh came on. We quickly started and Michael got the ball, passed to Toby who had a good shot at goal, but it was stopped by Taverham's goal keeper.
The whistle blew and the final score was a draw 2-2.
