During Music Lessons the children are taught through the Elements of Music as presented in the National Curriculum. However, we also feel that it is necessary to teach some basic musical theory and so a large part of the lesson is taken up with notation and time values, along with musical terms and music appreciation through the ages. The children in the main school are currently all working towards Grade 1 Associated Board Music Theory. Lessons are rounded off with fun singing if time allows. In the Pre Prep department the emphasis is on the Elements of Music , instrumentation, basic rhythm work and enjoyment of music through playing percussion instruments and singing.
Main School Choir:-
This year the main school choir has grown in force and we now have thirty members. Already they are showing great promise and making a beautiful sound ; I am hopeful that we should be able to produce some excellent performances this year and spend time developing our ability to harmonise and to bring in more control of dynamics and overall performance.
