Dinosaur Park
Wednesday, 08 July 2009
All of the Pre-Prep children had worked so hard throughout the year that they were rewarded at the end of term with a fun day at the Dinosuar Park. dino1.jpg
The weather was glorious and we were pleased to be joined by parents, grandparents and even a little brother. The children had a great time hunting through the woods finding stamps and dinosuar evidence (we think we even heard a few roars!). We then headed towards the petting area where we saw giant tortoises, a variety of scary snakes and a few wallabies, as well as the usual farm animals.
After lunch the children had fun exploring the play area. The zip wire and giant climbing dinosaur proved very popular and Benjamin Barber impressed us with how quickly he could get to the top of the climbing frame. There was a little time after lunch for the children to find any missing stamps then Mrs Skipper awarded medals to those who had found them all - which was everybody!  Archie's Mummy very kindly bought ice creams for everybody (thank you), which were much appreciated. Then it was back into the minibus for a very quiet return journey to school (only a few snores could be heard).
A big thank you to all the children who behaved brilliantly and to all the Mum's who helped. Can't wait until next year!

Speech Day 2009
Wednesday, 08 July 2009

Term finished on Saturday 4th July. chequehforh.jpg

The children and many parents attended the Leavers’ and Old Aquilian Service at St Mary’s Old Hunstanton in the morning, where the singing of the choir was widely praised.

The sun shone and children and families enjoyed picnics in the grounds before attending  Prize Giving in the marquee that had hosted the annual Ball on the previous evening.

We were joined by two guests: Dominic Findlay, the Headmaster of Langley School, who presented the prizes and addressed the School; and by Haydn Parry the Chairman and co-founder of the charity Help for Heroes who accepted our cheque for £26,942.78 raised through our 25 mile walk in Ben’s memory, which  along with a shorter version for the young or less hardy over the last 5 miles saw 370 people walking.

This included 11 of the remaining 16 from Ben’s class of 2000/01. The walk was first and foremost a tribute to Ben, but it seemed fitting that out of a tragedy some good should come and hence our pleasure in making this presentation.

Haydn then spoke to explain why the charity had been formed and what the money raised might be used for.

The final result was close with Barbers in third place, St. Edmunds in second and L'Estrange in third.

Here we have Mr Crofts presenting the trophy to the youngest and the oldest members of L'Estrange.

Well Done to all who took part.

Grandparents Tea Party
Tuesday, 30 June 2009

On Friday 26th June the pre prep children ended an extremely successful Summer Week with a tea party for their grandparents.grandparents_3.jpg Throughout the day the children spent time preparing sandwiches and cakes to serve at the tea party and practising songs to entertain with. grandparents2.jpgOn arrival the children showed grandparents to their seats and then served tea and cakes before entertaining with a selection of songs both old and new. grandparents1.jpgThe grandparents were then given a guided tour of classrooms and the pre prep building. It was a beautiful afternoon and the turn out was exceptional with the majority of children having at least one grandparent to show around.

A lovely way to end a glorious Summer Week and not a spot of rain in sight!
