Choir sing at the wedding of Old Aquilian Sofia Lambert
Monday, 02 November 2009

On Saturday 31st October a small group of singers from the main school choir sang at the wedding of Old Aquilian Sofia Lambert and Ross Nicholas at All Saints Church in Fring. choirwedding.jpg

It was a delightful day and I was extremely proud of the choir who sang  beautifully both in English - Let it Be by the Beatles and in Welsh - Suo Gan,  a traditional Welsh Lullaby.

Sofia and Ross had requested that the choir sing in their school robes ( thank you Mrs Crofts for preparing these during your holiday) with the exception of the rather stunning bridesmaid in the middle who, luckily for us, chose to sing in her bridesmaid dress - thank you Jade.

It was a delight to sing at the wedding of such a lovely couple and we all wish them well in their life together.

Here you can see the choir at the end of the event, ironically it is Patrick who looks the most angelic!

Well Done Everyone and thank you for putting in all of the extra time to practise.

Division II Visit Trues Yard
Monday, 05 October 2009

As part of their History Topic this term on Homes Long Ago Division II visited True's Yard Museum in Kings Lynn.

The children had a wonderful day and were fascinated by the stories of liftrues_yardclothes.jpge in Victorian times as a fisherman; they were particularly interested in the GHOSTS!

The children began with a tour of the two cottages which they found to be incredibly small.

They were amazed to find that 11 people lived in one cottage with one small room downstairstrues_yardbath2.jpg, one small room upstairs ,  no bathroom and most importantly no toilet!

The chamberpot was a particular fascination and when asked to try out 11 in one double bed they were all a little uncomfortable and not too keen to live in quite the same fashion!

Outside the children tried out the tin bath for size but were not terribly impressed with the trues_yardbath.jpgthought of all 11 people in the family using the same water.

Next was wash day! I think it would probably take Division II a week to finish the washing.

trues_yard09washing.jpgAll were a little damp after the experience but thoroughly enjoyed using the posser and later the mangle.mangle.jpg

We ended the day with a visit to the Town House Museum where we did some medieval brass rubbings, looked at a Victorian Nursery and Kitchen and finished in a Victorian School Room. trues_yardschool.jpg

A fabulous day was had by all.

A big thank you to Mrs Playford for helping us out on the trip.

ssat_british_championships.jpgSam Stonebridge took part in the British BMX championships last weekend. After a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd place in the qualifying rounds Sam looked well place for a successful finish until a collision with another bike put paid to his chances. Better luck next time Sam – 2012 will come a bit early I suppose (he’s only 6!) but maybe 2020 !!

Kingswood
Sunday, 20 September 2009

I’ve just seen the Div Vl – Vllls return from Kingswood after a great weekend – so many smiley faces. I asked Freddie what were the best & worst bits ? Leap of Faith was the best and .. there wasn’t anything bad, he replied. As ever I’m grateful to Jonathan Barber for making it happen and to Charlie & Karen for going that extra mile and giving up their weekend
