Our Nursery is open for 52 weeks a year and caters for boys and girls from the
ages of six months to four years. The ages are divided into three main rooms
the 0-2 room, 2-3 room, known as Birth to Three, and the 3-4 room, which is closley linked to our Reception Class for the last two terms, to help children have an enjoyable transition from Nursery to School. Within all of the year groups each child is allocated a keyperson, who is your main contact for all things that may be relevant to your
child's happiness.
The Nursery day runs from 8am to 6pm, and can be divided into sessions: 8 or 8.30am -
12noon, 8 or 8.30am - 1pm, 12noon - 4pm, 1 - 4pm, 12noon - 5 or 6pm and 1 - 5 or 6pm. We provide healthy snacks at approximately 10am and 2pm, and a hot,
nutritious, freshly cooked lunch for children who, as a part of their session,
are with us between 12noon and 1pm.
For staffing ratios we follow the Satutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (dfcsf) recommendations. Babies
are cared for in a bright and well resourced environment, with a staff to child
ratio of 1:3. Children move to the 2-3 room (with a staff ratio of 1:4) in the
term after they reach two years of age and sometimes before if children are ready for the next stage, provided a 1:3 ratio can be maintained for them (they will be in groups no bigger than 12 per room). For the final year in Nursery children move into the 3-4 year group with the staff ratio of 1:8, however in the afternoons we sometime mix the age groups, giving siblings an opportunitity to be together for part of the day. All children have time outside everyday either in their own garden areas, or walking and playing in the school grounds; although, if the weather
is very inclement older children will play on big play equipment in the School
gym.
As a team we aim to work together with parents and carers, to ensure that all children feel valued, safe, secure and happy. Happy children learn and thrive and develop the necessary confidence to cope with life's challenges. As a setting we hope to acheive this through our policies, please refer to our policies and welcome pack for further information. These are available on enrolment to Nursery or here on our website.
