Welcome to the
Parents’ Committee page of the web site.
As a Committee we have 3 aims
- To organise social events for the
children, parents and friends of the school both past and present
- To raise additional funds for the
school
- To have fun whilst we do the above
two.
We hold a number
of events over the school year. However,
we are always willing to try something new as we are aware that ideas and
events can get somewhat stale. Some of
these events are firmly fixed in the school calendar and have become part of
tradition of the school, others are new and may well become a permanent
fixture.
The big event of
the year is the Annual ball held on the last day of the school year in
July. The Parents Committee organise
this function. The funds raised from this
event pay for the cost of hiring a marquee which allows the school to hold a
number of events over a 7 day period which includes Summer Sensation, the Ball
itself, School Speech day and the annual cricket match between the Headmaster’s
XI and the Old Aquilians.
The Parents
Committee welcome any ideas for fund raising activities as long as they are
legal, decent and honest! In fact if
it’s a little bit different – why not try it?
At our AGM in
October 2007 we donated £2,500 to the school.
This was to help with the purchase of interactive white boards. Our aim this year is to match or even better
this donation as we know more whiteboards are wanted by the children as well as
the teachers!

these events we have held/propose to hold a number of coffee mornings for
parents and friends in the school drawing room, one of which is the annual
McMillan coffee morning.
The Parents
Committee always welcome any feedback you have on the events. Please do not hesitate to contact us either
in person or via the School Office.
Many thanks to all
the parents, friends and children who support our events and we hope to see you
at many more.
