Our Preparatory School caters for children from Year III to Year VIII all of
whom can attend as day pupils, flexi or weekly boarders. For day pupils the
school day runs from 8.30am to 6pm, with all children enjoying a break for
lunch at 12.50, when they have a choice of a freshly cooked nutritious main
course or a salad and a dessert. Glebe House does not have school on Saturdays, although
some matches are played then. From Year III children begin to have their
lessons taught by subject specialists until by Year V all of their lessons are
specialist taught. They will cover the usual curriculum areas plus French, ICT, PE & Games (including swimming), Music & Drama.
The children will play games on three afternoons a week, with Wednesdays and
some Saturdays the usual day for inter school matches. A wide range of lunchtime clubs catering for a variety of sports and interests are available. These would typically include tennis, golf, art, cookery, wildlife garden, chess amongst others. Homework is done in school at the end of each day.
Individual music lessons and ballet can also be organised within the school
day.
We assess our pupils using NFER & PIPS/MIDYIS testing to give us a national bench mark to track the children's progress.
