Welcome to the SEN Department where we offer structured support to children with specific learning difficulties.
We specialise in teaching children with dyslexia, dyspraxia and Aspergers through a wide range of multisensory activities and approaches tailor made for each individual's needs.
There are two full time members of staff who provide both one to one and small group support .
We pride ourselves in our close liaison with class teachers to whom we are able to offer support and advice regarding children with difficulties. Glebe House School has a reputation for early identification of Specific Learning Difficulties and giving the children the support required to enable them to move on successfully in school.
Individual Education Plans are written for each child who attends the department; these are comprehensive plans setting out targets, teaching strategies, resources and outcomes and are reviewed half termly. Parents are given copies of these plans and their outcomes so that they are able to closely monitor their child's progress.
On a Wednesday afternoon the department is open for parents to visit the teaching staff to discuss any issues or concerns they may have about their child's progress.
The main specialist areas covered within this department are reading, spelling and handwriting; for each of these areas there are comprehensive programmes, some of which are unique to Glebe House School.

We also provide the opportunity for children to participate in much publicised Brain Gym type exercise routines.
