Making Tracks with the BBC Concert Orchestra

On Thursday March 13th the children from the prep school went to the Norwich Showground to hear the BBC Concert Orchestra perform, learn about the instruments of the orchestra and take part in some conducting, composition and performance activities.

Among the pieces listened to were:-

·        Tchaikovsky – Russian Dance (Trepak) and Danse des Mirlitons from The Nutcracker Suite

·        Saint-Saens – The Swan form Carnival of the Animals

·        Elmer Bernstein – Title music from the film The Great Escape

·        Mozart – Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat (final movement)

It was an excellent afternoon and the children and staff alike thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
