15th December 2017

We're nearly there!

A truly great term has almost finished and what a super final week it has been!

The Advent Challenge - 50 people off the streets at Christmas!

I set a task for the school to donate 10p a day per pupil through Advent in order that we might try to raise enough to sponsor 10 places for the Charity Crisis at Christmas to offer food, clothing and other support to 10 homeless people. I said I would double the amount raised and Crane Garden Buildings then offered to double that amount, which would have helped 40 people.

The boxes were opened yesterday and contributions counted. In the end after the doubling and donations from 3 families who each paid for at least 1 person themselves we have been able to donate £1304 which will support 50 people. This is tremendous – thanks to all concerned!

The Wizard of Oz

What a treat Division Vll & Vlll offered us on Tuesday and Wednesday nights! The cast and supporters were excellent and the leads offered so much through their brilliant singing and characterisation.

Many congratulations to the Directors, Helen Quinn and Bex Lloyd for their hard work and to the team of David Whitehill (lighting) and Alice Hipwell (scenery/props).

I have added below a gallery of Bill Robinson’s excellent photographs and thanks to Stephen & Sheila Kent we are able to offer DVDs of Tuesday night’s performance at £6. Please speak to or email me if this is of interest.

Parents' Committee kindness

After the fun last week due the Parents’ Committee sponsored Nursery Christmas Party and the Pre-Prep and Division lll trip to the pantomime, it was the rest of the Prep School’s turn on Thursday as they visited Skaterz for roller skating. Much fun was had, but sadly Amelie Fisher had a visit to A & E with a broken wrist – we all wish her well and I am pleased that she is keen to be in today.

The Parents’ Committee will once again be in action today as they offer complementary mulled wine and mince pies after the Carol Service – please stay!

While a coach returned children to school, the choir were brought to King’s Lynn to join the Division lll members and after a rapid Burger King supper courtesy of Mrs Crofts, the choir entertained late night shoppers with their much appreciated carol singing.

We are looking forward to the Carol Service at 3.00pm at St Mary’s in Old Hunstanton. As previously mentioned we will be staying for mulled wine and mince pies and this will be an opportunity to meet Louis Taylor, who will be Headmaster of Glebe House School from September 2018.
