Glebe House Reception children are taught in a supportive and stimulating learning environment where the everyday atmosphere is welcoming and positive. Every child’s early years’ experience is happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and we support their development, care and learning needs.
Children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework; activities are tailored to suit each child's unique needs and development, and they learn by playing and exploring and by being active both indoors and outside. Reception has its own dedicated garden, and we take full advantage of the school's extensive grounds and of its proximity to the wonderful sandy beaches of North Norfolk to enable the children to explore the natural environment in safety.
In addition to learning the key skills of Literacy and Numeracy, the children receive specialised teaching in French, Music, Swimming, Art and Design, Physical Development and a host of lunchtime and after school activities which include archery, fencing, fun swimming, multi-skills and modern dance. Technology is an integral part of the curriculum and all children benefit from access to an interactive White Board, personal computers and a variety of other equipment.
A bond between a child and an adult who is special to them is central to a child’s well-being and we recognise that children thrive from a base of loving and secure relationships. Each child is allocated a key person who has responsibilities for the children in their care, offering reassurance to feel safe and secure and developing positive relationships with their parents and carers.
